Why do you people always forget the tail?

MisterAibo Featured By Owner Jun 27, 2013
People don't. Tail differ a lot from one pony to another, so there's no point in including them in an SVG base.

As with most things, practice makes perfect. Try recreating some of the scenes from the show using software like inkscape. Or at least poses. If you're attentive, every new vector helps you learn something new - soon, you'll just as easily make your own stuff.

useful and complete but too expensive and possibly not fully compatible with my Illustrator CS3 (like most of the SVGs) . therefore, no thanks.

Just like I advised before... Try downloading and importing some of my free resources - like [link] - if it works, this will work as well. I can't help the price.

5 or 7 bucks would've been honorable like prices, but that's just me.
I tried most of your ressources and they work, indeed.

Yes, all the poses are plain SVG files. Logic would dictate that those should be easily importable into Illustrator, but one can't be sure. I'd recommend downloading some of my other vector resource - like [link] - and trying to import that. If it works, this should work as well.

And after all, I can do refunds.

Plus, you could always learn inkscape. :)

Yeeeeeaah. I don't really see the point when I own Illustrator. I mean I know it is free and all...but I was tought on Illustrator so ;) plus I'm taking advanced Illustrator for my degree this semester :D
Anyways. I will test out said link at school today and if it works I will send you da monehs.

Likewise, I see no point in using an editor that uses closed, non-standardized formats. Not to mention you have to pay quite a sum for it. To each their own, right? :) SVGs should still prove compatible.

Also, consider paypal as a payment option. It's cheaper than premium content.

Well as a student I got Illustrator for like 50 I think...and I just used my financial aid. So free basically. In my opinion Illustrator is more refined and clean. The first time I opened Inkscape I waas overwhelemed with stuff. But...that WAS before I officily started vectoring XD it is just the classic Adobe vs. Random open scource program. Like I still prefer Photoshop over Gimp. There are just places where Adobe products are clearly superior and places where they are inferior. Plus. The AI format is actually a smaller file size if I remember correctly. And Inkscape can open them. But it doesnt matter because if you plan on opening a file from Illustrator you can export as an svg or an eps. Or an editable pdf whatever XD :D
and dont worry. I was gonna go with PayPal ;)

That'd be because Adobe has a ton of people who can work on extra features and UI. Open source programs? Not so much. But open source programs stand on open source roots, which is good to keep things out of the hands of a single group.

I don't know about file size. I guess AIs can be smaller because you know which assets the program uses implicitly. SVG wasn't created to serve in any particular program, so anything non-standard must be added in, which bloats the thing a bit. But still, saving in plain-SVG format leaves you with files of tens of kilobytes. Sure, you get to hundreds or even megabytes as you add on different things, but it's just the question of how efficient your pictures are. The numerous editing options and shortcuts Illustrator gives you actually clutters the file with unnecessary shapes, vector artifacts and sometimes, even unnecessary textures (when exporting to SVGs, at least). This is what makes Illustrator weaker for any open-source environment as well as any work that relies heavily on efficiency.
Like one of my SVG animations. I couldn't do that in Illustrator because the thing doesn't use SVG as native format and the export is so unreliable it's not even funny.
But then again, I was always the kind of guy who sneered at frontpage and used notepad instead.

And I do all my animations by coding, not with a fancy UI like you'd do with flash. There's just something about the transparency of these things that I enjoy.

Hmm. Yeah I dont actually know why I brought up file size seeing as either way they are tiny XD
I think in the end it really depends on your workflow.
One question though...how do you make your pony vectors? Cause I know in Illustrator the points on the end of the legs and such can easily be done with the width edit tool...does Inkscape have this? Cause I can imagine it getting difficult :/
Anywho...I'll be checking in about an hour so...yeah :D

The FAQ says you should treat it as if under CC, but really, it's just a formality. Of course, I'd prefer if you were to link it at some point, since more people would buy it... but really, it's up to you.

Using paypal gives me the money instantly, while there is a two-week waiting period for using dA's premium content. Also, dA has 20% cuts, so it's only natural to ask for $10 (instead of $11 the 1000 points are worth) via paypal. It motivates people to use the mutually beneficial option. I'm sorry if my remark sounded forceful - I just wanted to make sure you knew of the option.

I'm not forcing you to buy it with paypal - heck, I'm not forcing you to buy it at all. I'm just putting out the content and bet on the fact that a few people might buy it. Others may... I don't know, save the preview and vector that from scratch? I'm not publishing this for free because I spent a lot of time optimizing it. :)
