Once a great tactician, general and a warrior of unmatched skill, he now merely calls himself Teacher. The old stallion owns a beautiful garden at the outskirts of Canterlot and all candidates for the position in the Royal Guard must at some point go through his personal training course.

Unlike most drill sergeants who just try to get the ponies to work out, the Teacher does quick pop-quizzes during his training, ranging from questions about Equestrian history and politics to those about farm equipment. His student might have to debate ethics of monarchy while he does push ups, count by powers of three while he runs ten miles or recite poetry while standing on one hoof for half an hour.

The Teacher doesn't let his student leave to go further in the training process until he's satisfied with the results, meaning you can spend weeks with him or you can never get to the next step. This also means every single member of the Guard learns to be both quick on his hooves and nimble in mind.

From time to time, princess Celestia might strike conversation with a random guard and even she always feels like she's having discussion with the old master himself.

Nice work on the smooth animation here! I like how the stallions are giving it all they've got and yet the mare is barely breaking a sweat XD

They're too competitive - they don't pace themselves. She knows that slow and steady wins the race. Kinda like Twilight at running of the leaves.
